As a Forensic Psychologist, Dr. Ina Patton made an early commitment to Forensic Psychology. Her career was purposely tailored toward her joint interest in psychology and the law.
Dr. Patton has conducted forensic evaluations for the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, District of Columbia Probation and Parole Department, Federal Bureau of Prisons - Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles, California and the Charles R. Drew Medical Center's Augustus F. Hawkins Emergency Mental Health Walk-in Clinic in South Central Los Angeles. Most recently, Dr. Patton managed the Forensic Evaluation Program at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center in Fairfax, Virginia.
Dr. Patton has been praised for her writing style, knowledge of mental health statutes, and her grace and ease on the witness stand as an expert in the field. She has testified in numerous cases and has never failed to be qualified as an expert in a legal matter for which she has been retained. She has delivered more than five hundred court-ordered evaluations to several jurisdictions in the United States, including county, state and federal authorities.
As a guest lecturer at colleges, universities and conferences, Dr. Patton has a knack for delivering difficult material with a combination of intellect and style. She is a published writer and has produced literature in scientific journals and books on the effects of personality style on physiology.
